Kim participated in her first yoga class while attending Onondaga Community College around the year 2000. The physical movement was rewarding but it was the mental and spiritual practice which captured her heart. Yoga has since been apart of Kim's life, both, as a personal pursuit and as a vocation.
Around 2007, burnt out from the retail management world, and desperately needing change, Kim spent a month training at the world-renowned wellness facility, Kripalu, completing her 200 hr. yoga training certification. In 2011, she opened a local yoga studio, Lotus Life Yoga Center. At the height of the business there were two locations and close to 34 employees total. Kim led yoga retreats each year to fabulous places like Costa Rica and Vermont, and began leading her own yoga teacher training programs which has since graduated over 100 individuals. In 2013, she completed an advanced, 500 hr. training, from Doug Swenson. Kim believes learning should be a life long pursuit and so she continuously dives into workshops and trainings from her teachers and in the academic world as well.
In 2016, personal shifts and interests were changing for Kim and she began reevaluating her path. Kim sold Lotus Life Yoga in order to fully submerge herself in academic study. During her undergraduate studies she was a research assistant within the Cognitive Neuroscience lab and published results on resting state functional connectivity of the amygdala as well as inhibitory control within older adults.
As recent graduate student, of the Human Computer Interaction department at SUNY Oswego, her studies have primarily been focused on virtual reality (VR) and mindfulness training and its affects on subjective well-being. Kim is also a full-time UX designer at a local tech company.
Kim lives in Liverpool, NY and teaches classes, workshops and yoga retreats around the Syracuse area. Her classes are a balance of high energy and relaxation. She playfully weaves yoga wisdom and story telling into her classes and has a gift for being able to teach to all levels of experience.
